I am a professional cyclist and current British national champion riding in the World Tour in Europe for team Canyon//SRAM. This year is my first season as a professional however during the time approaching the new season, I dislocated my knee and required immediate MPFL surgery to reconstruct my knee, I went to see Dr Nell to help me and the experience was amazing. He is a very talented and professional surgeon and I felt at ease through the whole process and I could trust him to help me back on the road to recovery. All of the medical staff were amazing and kind. His approach to my unique situation as an athlete was reassuring, and I was able to be back riding my bike within a couple of days and back to my training schedule within a few weeks. 4 months into my recovery and my knee is better than it ever was. I have been competing in the biggest races in the world and knowing I can put my confidence into my knee is great. Dr Nell has saved my career and allowed me to keep doing my job to the highest level. I will be forever grateful for the help he gave me.

In March 2018 our son, Sebastian, was diagnosed with osteochondritis dessicans. OCD is a joint condition in which bone underneath the cartilage of a joint dies due to lack of blood flow. This bone and cartilage can then break loose, causing pain and possibly long term damage. This came as quite a shock to us as parents, and a tragedy to a very active 10 year old boy. Sebastian was confined to crutches and no weight bearing on the affected leg for 9 months. Unfortunately follow up MRI's showed a worsening of the OCD, despite conservative therapy, and we were referred to Dr Nell for surgical treatment. Thank you Dr Nell for the meticulous and highly successful surgery that you performed, as well as your friendly, compassionate bedside manner. Sebastian can once again play with his friends and take part on the sports field, thanks to you! We will be forever grateful.
